Dementia

*sorry its long please read I'd be grateful*

Dementia

she once was an ordinary person
someone who was there
never late for anything
and always willing to care

everyday she'd make time
time for people who cared
she'd say a word or mime
annoying people she would bare

this was the good times
you haven't heard the bad
the tune in your head that rhymes
it doesn't sound to sad

five phone calls a day
and we didn't notice
for the pain to come our ways
and we didn't notice

confused she was some days
we wondered why
stuck in her wonderful gaze
then we clicked what was to lie

forgetting things each day
and we didn't notice
for the pain to come her way
and we didn't notice

everything got worse
money clothes made her mad
she was to curse
frustrated confused and sad

forgetting our names
and we noticed
losing her games
and we noticed

going to the doctors
and being looked after bad
her time was ticking away
it is all really sad

now theres nothing left
apart from pain inside
our hearts torn, theft
trying to let feelings hide

been to the doctors
and now we know
nursing care
and now we now

some days are happy
some days are sad
nothing left to do
everything turned bad

bads just the beginning
it all gets worse
there was no winning
not even for the nurse

everyones fusing
because they know
everyones worried
now they know

things went wrong
she was put in a home
we were trying to be strong
being stuck in a dome

more things went off
we 'was' getting somewhere
trying our best
all we could do was sit and bare

the home wasn't good enough
she fell through the door
she was hurting, they said tough
all of this against the law

she became worse
and she was hurting
one big curse
around us lurking

there were good times
you've just heard the bad
this tune in your head, that rhymes
its all to sad

nothing you can do
nothing you can say
nothing left
to take this pain away

she's now a demented person
someone who isn't there
always late for everything
and not able to care

**dedicated to my grandma who's got dementia, i miss the person she used to be I'll always miss her**

I'm so sorry this happened to your grandma, this was a beautifully sad poem, it would also work well as song lyrics, loved it, keep it up xxx
