Farewell with a gun

by Chelsea Rae   Apr 24, 2005

Shining eyes light up the dark room
She’s staring at the bringer of pain
Her bringer of pain
She’s trying to keep her sane

There she goes again
Remembering her past
Remembering the life she once had
Will these memories last?

Forget the past and look at now:
Now she is griping on to her seat
Watching him move on
From right under her feet

Sit back now and listen
Listen to her story she has to tell
It might not be a nice ride
A trip right into hell

This picture I am painting
It’s of her boy and his new girl
A new relationship formed
This is her new world

There they are holding hands
She sees them kissing
Confused at what has happened
Wondering what she is missing

Their voices giggle in lust
“I love you” exchanged between the two
Is she really hearing this?
Wishing all of this was untrue

Hold on tight
This ride is getting faster
Her story is not over yet,
It will end in a disaster

That night in her dark room
She could not take it anymore
The picture of them together
Something she could not ignore

Cradling her legs weakly
Eyes stained with tears
The present can’t be undone
The image of him appears

“It won’t ever be like it was, will it?”
She asked him in a smirk
He wasn’t there, but she knew the answer
She knew it wouldn’t work

Writing a letter goodbye
She watched as the pen fell
She took the gun to her head
A tainted smile, “Farewell”
