Purity vs Selfishness

by Shædow Poet   Apr 25, 2005

I care for the rose, dripping in vermilion scent
It sits so withered, dying without streams-
Streams of water, or fluid
To replenish its sense of life
A rose lived mortally in glee.
Lost now, to die in pain.

I weep for the caterpillar, cradled in dirt
It cries of preternatural, with knowledge-
Knowledge of future malaise
Cannot develop wings, a colorful attire
Never to show scarce talent.
Lost now, to live in pain.

I sigh for the light, constantly being dimmed
It dreams of happiness, and smiles-
A smile of love for itself, for hope
To become something more than miserable
With a life of blind haunts.
Lost now, to fight away pain.

I growl at the knife, which cares not to change
To b i tch, moan, weep of past tidings-
Tidings that are over, that could grow
Yet selfish and sharp, could not learn to change
With a life that HAS a light.
Lost now, caressing perpetual pain.
