I'm Giving Up

It is finally sinking in.
I now have realized
That I have lost you.
You are still here
But you won’t ever
be with me again.

I have many sleepless nights.
Although, you have no clue
(at least until now).
I don’t know what to say,
Or how to act.
I now see that there
Is nothing left.
How come you can
Just except this.

I’m giving up,
That is what you are
Thinking.
But you are wrong,
I just don’t want to
Hurt myself any longer.

The only thing that this
“friendship” is producing
right now is false hope.
And that is the last thing,
I need to add to the rest
Of my complications.
You may call this selfish.
Go ahead, it isn’t like
We are “friends” anymore.

Now you are mad,
Go ahead, be mad.
Don’t talk to me,
It’ll be easier for
Both of us, to just
Drift apart, cuz that
Is what we need.

If we stay “together”
Things will only get worse.
You see me and Brit?
After a year apart,
We are becoming friends
Again. Maybe that is just
What we need.
