The Sunshine Man (series)

The Sun's Shine: (Part 1)

As the sun starts to shine
He pulls the shades closed
Not crossing the line
To being exposed
He pulls off his shirt
In the dark room he lays
He knows he's been hurt
For too many days

To him, the world was taxing
And severely he was lacking
Because he blocked away the light
For it was much too bright
He wanted to be away
From what? "The sun" he'd say
thirty-eight years of his life
Spent happily with his wife
Until she died, dehydrated and hot
Because of the sun in a desert spot
So he locked himself away
From the light of day

Resisting the Need to Shine: (Part 2)
Two long dark years
In sweet lonliness and salted tears
By now he's forgotten why he's locked himself away
All he remembers is he blames the light of day
His room was always hot, and seldom did he leave
He left only at night, the only time he pleased
On rainy days when it was dark
He'd often stroll through Central Park
Otherwise he'd stay on his tenth floor apartment
Only three rooms, and none had carpet
On the matress near the wall, is were he'd lay and sleep
Near his kitchen counter is were he'd often weep
He had clothes laying everywere, and empty bottles of liquer
He drank until he passed out, so he wouldn't remember
But he does, and he cries sometimes
Deep inside he misses the sunshine
He misses the warmth, on the super hot days
He missed the sun shine in so many ways
But he'd remember the reason, remember the cause
When he reaches for the window's shades, he'd suddenly pause
"One day" he said "I'll see the sunshine before I die"
Though, he knew it was simply a lie

Sunshine Man: (Part 3)

He layed in his dark room
Awaiting his own sorrowful doom
Shades were shut to keep out sunshine
he cries and remembers it sometimes
So losened and careless
He stumbles to undress
until boxers were all he wore
He staggered to the kitchen
His eyes began to glow on end
Gulping down his liquer
So he won't remember
All the horrid strife
He brought into his life
Shades drawn shut to keep out sunshine
He cries and remembers, only sometimes
He falls to his butt, resting his weight on the side of his bed
His knees pulled half way to his chest, eyes turning red
A stream of tears rolls down the side of his face
His arms resting on his knees, he held them in place
with a final glance at his window's shades, he died
Remembering the sunshine while he cried
Once he passed on, the shades fell to the floor
The sunshine flooded in, on the man it seemed to adore
