The battle of life

by tragic   Apr 29, 2005

Left right left Right
As I march to the battle field
with but one gun and one shield
My thoughts as tangled as the steeled barbed wire
left rite front and back I see fire
If this isnt hell than what is?
The guns blast the mines explode
My comrades corpses lay still
trained to destroy and kill
the tension takes effect
A mere calm thrill
the bullets whistle by
every 2nd man dies
thus the widows cry
power strong enough to make an apartment bend
Finally with mercy
The bombardment Ends

Left right Left Right
As I march from the mercyless battle field
Smoke swirling from the barrel of the empty clipped gun
and a broken shield
the scars I carry the wounds that follow
will never heal
still numb from the drugs
I cannot feel
Friends, comrades lost
Left Right left Right
Why arent I happy
I won the fight
Left right left right
The battle is over
but not the war.
