To Remember Death

by Jordan   Apr 30, 2005

The nights are getting colder
As shall my heart
Bittersweet nightmare
The days are growing longer
Patience fading
You whispered to me
A frayed promise
Shattered on the ground
An angel with no wings
The tears don't fall
Like they used to
Dry and desolate
Solemnly I stand
Unfertile ground
Cracked and dying
You asked me to remember
But my mind is not my own
A face in the shadows
Name lost to the aged
My soul understands
Blistered and wounded
Painfully I keep the memory
Lighting in a dark sky
Stars burn out and descend
Into my flesh
You taught me how to see
Not by eye
But your gone
Now blinded
The colors don't match
On this tapestry
Life
You loved me once
Burdened
I remember at last...
I loved you always

'Patients fading' I think this should be 'Patience fading' ?

You drew me right in to this poem with the emotions flowing from verse to verse. Also I really like the short verse structure here, it's easy to read and it says a lot. Again, brilliant words used here to describe this sadness.
