The One

by Hannah Leigh Pate   May 2, 2005

Driven to the brink of insanity,
And lost to the world inside of me.
I cry painful tears,
And dream of my fears.
Waking to find my neck in a rope,
With people telling me I can cope.

Will be there to save me that day?
Or will you watch me strangle my life away?
Will be the one to shout my name?
Or will you find it all to be part of the game?

The rope is surprisingly rigid and tight,
And it burns like it will when I see the light.
Heaven will no doubt reject me,
And I’ll burn in Hell for eternity.
None of this will not bother me then,
Nothing that is, except your wicked grin.

Will you be the one to taunt me?
Driving me to hang for all to see?
Will you be the one to kill me away?
You are the one that killed me that day.
