Back stage

by katie!   May 4, 2005

Sit there in the stage show, a play of many voices
Empty audience, but one person wishes to see the show
Sits there in the background, unseen by all the cast
Picks through the script, under a microscope, I sit backstage

Sit alone with the screenplay of my mind, exploding
In front of my eyes, yet I cannot play a part
The lead role taken by someone so unfamiliar
As I stare at my life, like a soap opera unfolding

As the member of the audience loses interest so soon
Like everyone else who ever took an interest
She turns away from the show, doesn’t care anymore
As I cry to her, begging for help, from backstage
