A Cutter's Dream

by Tasha   May 5, 2005

She watches the knife
From a place on her bed
Thoughts stirring on her mind
"Maybe I'm better off dead."

"I can take this no longer."
A tear falls from her eye
She picks up the knife
As she begins to cry

Slowly & Steadily
She cuts through her arm
She can no longer feel it
It does no harm

She looks in the mirror
"Life's no longer a race.
Even though I'll never win
I'll go at my own pace."

She knew the events of her day
Things always stayed the same
She had lost everything she lived for
She had nothing left to gain

The one that understood her
Her sister and her friend
Didn't know what was going to happen
Didn't know her life would soon end

She watched the blood flow
As she deeply sliced her skin
If only someone would've taken the time
To ask her how she'd been

She'd be with us now
She'd still be here today
She wouldn't have made that choice
To throw her life away

She knew she was almost gone
She let out one last scream
She was proud of what she'd done
She'd accomplished a cutter's dream
