Suspended From Society (part one)

by Jacklyn   May 10, 2005

His father lives in jail
Never to be released into the real world
His mother so hurt and scared
She wasn’t prepared to be a parent

He was born October 11
As tears of joy surrounded
A mother’s life had changed in an instant
From drinking and sex to diapers and throw up

She would try to do her best
Be the parent she never had
Filled with determination and new dreams
Hopes a life could really change

Soon enough it came crashing down
Stuck on heroin and beer
Moaning a new name night to night
Her now 8-year-old son heard all the time

Never interrupt when the beds shaking
Never ask for a toy or video game
That money is spent for his mommy’s heroin
Sometimes meant that they’d go staving

He is having troubles in school again
Hurting and making fun of weaker kids
A problem through elementary to high school
Being disrespectful and rude

Is this his anger and confusion?
The neglecting and lack of love
How much can you really blame the anger?
Considering this is how his mother raised him

But the school felt it wasn’t their business
So they tended to only his victims
This bully only received suspension
But in this case is the bully really the victim?

If they took the time to sit with him,
Could they help him feel like he is worth it?
Stop neglecting him like his mother,
Is it too late, since no one cares to face it?

He is now 17 years of age,
Dropped out of high school never to return,
It’s one more place he feels ignored,
Now he turns to face the world.

What a wonderfully written story my friend. Lots of people are like this - and it sickens me. Loved the story plot. <3
