Suspended from Society (part two)

by Jacklyn   May 11, 2005

As he’d turned to face the world
Hope to erase his painful wounds
Only minimum wage, the lowest income
$5.50 an hour for this high school dropout

Working long shifts, barely to live
Just enough for food and paying rent
Working overtime weekdays and nights
Trying to work to survive this life

But still yet he struggled
And his boss lets him go
Needing the money and an idea of trouble
If he can’t get it by working, then take it by force

No one has stopped him before
Only suspension and nothing more
Mask, gun, late and dark
Shot killed one innocent man

17 and tried as an adult
Prison for life, a life behind bars
When he was born was he suspended a life?
Was he sentenced to uselessly die?

Can the whole world neglect this teen?
Will someone take a stand?
Be willing to reveal his past?
Will they help him or neglect him again?

Was this suppose to be his fate?
Sitting in court for armed robbery
No doubt he’s blamed and will pay
But can’t you blame his mother and society?

Their choice affected his fate
The choices determined his dream
He never fit in with society
His lonesome cry they all neglected to see

The court then reaches a verdict
Of course, he’s guilty of all charges
His fate of bars paved by the world
Suspended from society, neglected for eternity.
