Why does all this hurt have to be?

We came together and we loved each other
we treated each other with respect
but then somewhere along the lines
we lost all sight of it

i hurt you, but you loved me still
i hurt you again and again
i hurt you over and over but still
you promised you'd be there till the end

you hurt me each and every day
you hurt me in so many ways
but never did i once take back
that id love you forever and always

i hurt you because you hurt me
and you did just the same
and we both knew what we where doin' to each other
was stupid and insane

i love you
and you love me
and that why i just don't see
why all this hurt has to be.
