My Makeup Mask

by lindzy   May 12, 2005

A painted face is nothing
But a tricky mask
I wake up in the morning
And set myself to the task

I bring out the cover up
I smear it on my face
I take a glance at my clock
And then I pick up my pace

Out then comes the eyeliner
To highlight my sunken eyes
I get out my blusher
To hide the stains from my cries

The eye shadow's next
I sweept it over glibely
I take a glance at my face
And smirk oh so snidely

Mascara coats my eyelashes
And I wait for it to dry
I try to look so perky
Even though I want to die

Finally the lipstick
And my mask is complete
No one sees my lonliness
It's blind to those I meet
