No Longer

by Deja Marie Meriwether   May 12, 2005

The words you say cut down on me,
Deep down to my core,
The open up those old wounds,
They make me bleed my crimson regret,
So spineless I am,
I can't stand up to you,
So hopeless I am,
I don't want you as a friend,
You make me feel pain,
Hurt, loss, all those feelings of my past,
You remind me of nothing but the past,
I want my future,
But you've shackled me,
I'm shackled by your beliefs,
Let me go,
Let all of I am go,
I'm nothing to you,
That dark shadow on the wall,
Ignore me and go away,
Let me be my shadowy self again,
I never needed you,
My hopeless slave-driver friend.
