Avenger

by katie!   May 13, 2005

Molten lava flows through the veins of the avenger
Black wings curled and waiting to unfurl victorious
Surveying all the creatures as the ground implodes
High above the citizens, foreboding and glorious

Statuette of the post that he watches from each day
As the darkness envelops the creatures on the land
Hopeless dreamers are swept away in the storms
Sharp claws extend from the maimed, ruffled hand

A castle on a hill, silhouetted against the moon
Grotesque as his eyes burn a fiery red in the evening
Life floods from his lungs, as he wears his uniform
Structured dark and menacing, he is cruel and deceiving

Waiting for the opportune moment to dismember them
Tearing them up brittle bones shatter in his eyes
Gorging on the entrails of the forgotten prey
Blood trickles down his pallid skin, a look that they despise

Unfolding his angelic wings, light as the heavens
Yet blacker than the darkest night, they shine
Sweeps them majestically through the midnight breeze
Sends a shiver down through your spine

Bolt from a crossbow, pierces through his soul
As he tumbles to the ground, fire exploding his heart
Slicing through the air with a knife of red hot agony
Torn and desperate howls as he tears himself apart
