Afraid to Love

I care for him so very much
Depend on him for all I do
A fear consumes my heart, my soul
I'm so afraid to love and lose.
And, though I trust him thoroughly
I'm wary of this happiness
For too much joy may lead to pain
I must be sure to realize this.
