In her Journal

by Kit Kat Katie   May 14, 2005

In her journal
that little girl writes
Everything that went on that day
Every single fight

In her journal
The stains are of tears
She crys every time
A footstep comes near

In her journal
She writes down her thoughts
As she watches her mother
Take shot after shot

In her journal
She writes down each day
In the blood of the cuts
That takes the pain away

In her journal
It says her last day
Was sitting in the sand
By the water near the Bay

In her journal
That little girl writes
"I wish it may happen
Just maybe it might!

In her journal
she writes one more line
I'm really sorry
But now is my time

WOW! What a powerful poem. I am so against self harm but this poem just shouts out at me...I feel like in a way you are portraying the journal as a call for help…as the journal is the only one that knows of her terrible plight. Normally I would say the repetition of one line can be overwhelming but you definitely make it work in this piece. I love it...excellent write.
