Loving Prayers

Loving Prayers

I fell to the ground
And on my knees I prayed
Begging God to bring you
Closer my way

“God, please” I begged
“Grant my love to me”
Like many nights before
I felt though God ignored me

“God, please” I screamed
“If you won’t bring him near
Then make his memory disappear”
Unwavering in love I demanded
That the answer be given

When I awoke I saw you there
Closing in on me without despair
“Thank-you, Father,” I whispered in my sleep
Suddenly realizing you were only a dream.

Though you are not with me
My memory is seared
With thoughts of you holding me near
I only hope that God is answering my prayer.
