Good-bye

I waited for one last chance
to say good-bye to you.

I saw you today
and could not stay away
it was something i had to do

I walked right up
my head held high
and finally said my last good-bye

I was looking for pity but instead found respect.
I finally stood up and smiled
for real
for once
for me
for everything I used to be.

I smiled through tears
and walked away.
