Even Still...

by Erica   May 16, 2005

Those shadowed times, when I could feel your sight
looking upon mine, and wondering if I understood
I'd look back with feelings of empathy,
and your invisible smile shown upon me
carrying my soul a caress of sweet love

I talked out of an empty corner of happiness
not wanting to destroy the perfect record of lies
despite the wish to change a fixed repetition
I stayed on the road of spiritual loss
but your smile continued to hold me

You gave me the hope of a million stars,
became the truth of the life I'm living
sometimes, I feel your touch on my shoulder
and I think all the ways I would turn around
to see the closeness of your smile

When my soul had dispersed and
my reasons had surrendered
to the overpowering sense of death,
because of you, I continued to hold on
to the last wisps of existence

Time drains away love, it is said
but the indifference of everything
is like the desolation of a fallen rose
trapped in stillness, but accessible to pain
life is a paradox, it continues forever

but even still,
Your smile will hold me...

No matter how hopeless I feel, that person's smile will always open my heart up every time. My sky turn from gray to blue because of your smile. It holds me like a warm blanket in frozen winter.
