Good & Evil

by Peter Williams   May 18, 2005

As I lay here alone,
In the darkness of the night,
I confront the shadow within me,
The blackness in my heart.
My mind is truly evil.
My heart and soul are pure.
I'm at a constant war within myself,
Good versus evil.
What will come out in the end?
Good?
Evil?
Perhaps no one person is pure good,
Pure evil.
Perhaps it was never suppose to be that way.
Good and evil,
Both sides of the equation.
They cancel out.
To be truly happy,
We can't be good or evil.
We must be both.
To have peace within myself,
I need to confront my darkness,
And confront my light.
No one man is evil,
No one man is good.
Our deeds are described as good and evil,
But our hearts......
Our souls......
Aren't.
