All Love Lost

by Christine   May 20, 2005

As I wake, the sense of doom rains upon me
Waiting for the moment to end the suspicion
Screaming fills the halls
My bones become cold as ice
The moment finally arrives

I open the door filled with dread
As I peek around the corner shock overtakes me
Terror fills me from head to toe
Running to you, I cry speechless

Sinking into a world of darkness
As I touch your cold face
The tears stop as suddenly as they started
Knowing you are gone kills me inside

Pacing the room I keep glancing at you
Searching for a reason to live
And finding none
Inside I find myself cold as ice
Death consumes me from inside out

I fall to my knees in front of you
And rest my head on your lap
Taking your icy hand into mine
I whisper "Take me with you
Without you all my love is lost"

*This poem is dedicated to my father who died in his sleep on November 28th, 2004. I'll always love you, Dad.*
