Not One Word Was Said

by shannon   May 21, 2005

On the beach I sat next to you
Alone but together, just us two

The moon reflected off the water into your eyes
And the stars shined so bright in the clear skies

Silence was all I heard along with the waves washing ashore
This was the moment I was waiting for

Slowly I turned my head to you
And when you saw the tears in my eyes, I felt you knew

You opened your arms and held me close
Comfort from you was what I needed the most

You knew all of the things I was going through
And that the only thing I had left, was you

After I lost him I became a mess
And I started talking to you less and less

But the whole time you stood by my side
And helped me put my past behind

I looked up at you and I saw you trying to stay strong
Because you thought that crying in front of me would be so wrong

I looked in your eyes to show you it was okay
So crying together on the beach we laid

You had lost a best friend, I lost my lover
For his loss we both greatly suffer

Lightly you kissed my forehead
And this whole time, not one word was said

Then your hand found its way to mine
And then I knew, things would eventually be fine
