He called me Charley

by Silent Drops Of Crimson Red   May 22, 2005

This is the night
My grandfather died
It was dark and rainy
On that February night
I was only a child
I didn't know what was to come
I had no idea how much I would cry
How much I would grieve
My mother says he died with a smile on his face
I never ever had a chance to say goodbye
As I left his side
The sky grew black
The lightning electrified the horizon
The thunder roared
And as of that night
I would never see my papa again
I don't understand why it had to be this way
I loved him so much
He called me Charley
