Old Woman

by AloneInaCrowd   May 22, 2005

She sits idly in the corner of the room,
A soft painted smile on her face.
Remembering a distant time
And a faded, cherished place.

And as her eyes cloud o'er with tears,
My breath seems choked within
To know her as a youthful girl
And how she once had been.

But sorrow fills her haunting eyes
That do not seem to see
It's then with horror that I find
This old woman - is me.
