Articoke envoked memories

by Justin Groft   May 22, 2005

Little green artichoke
you have met your final day
this stock pot is your coffin
and my stomach your eulogy
garlic, olive oil and parsley
is your fated dress of choice
i hope you might be tasty
it seems such a waste for you not to be
i remember riding down to the farms
to pick our favorites of your kin
those plants seemed so alien to me
i guess im just jaded now
and every time i eat one of your own
it transports me back
onto the backseat of a motorcycle since sold
back into an apartment since removed
to a companion since long gone
to a life i can barely remember
a little bit of salinas is hidden in every thorn
and a little bit of me in every leaf
in this bottomless pit i hide
maybe one of you will bloom
back to that sweet little town
one of those mistaken martian farm lands
of green brown and purple hue
oh little artichoke, how i adore you

yeah, there is. Salinas is one of the most prominent artichoke farm lands of the world, and its just the poor little city in bay are california i grew up in. i moved a long time ago, but went back just to see where i grew up. Evyerthing was gone, torn down, run over, or just dead. I went down to one of the farms my step dad and i use to go down to, and i picked up a bagful, took them home, and cooked them up. It just kind of took me back to everything. everything i had when i has seven, you know? so yes, it definitely has a deeper meaning.

I am going to asume that there was meant to be a deeper meaning to that. Otherwise, I am the only one who caught on to it. Lovely!
