Looking for happiness

I've felt so down for so long that it's getting hard to remember what real happiness feels like
The memories are getting vaguer and I'm beginning to doubt my own recollections.
I'm sitting here wondering whether you've ever felt as happy as you were with me
Have you ever felt so contented just to lie tangled up?
And do you remember me with a sad smile that it ended, as I remember you?
Or has everything since, changed your past view?
I want the happiness, I crave the happiness that was ours
Deep inside I know the memories are true
we were that happy, me and you
So I lock it inside and search with you in mind
because that deep true happiness is what I want to find
