From Afar...

by Stephen Levant   May 26, 2005

A fragrance is smelt;an eyebrow raises as pulse quickens. Pupils dilate and dart about furtively with recognition. A glance at the object of admiration is their mission. eyes meet and quickly look away. The public conveyance churns and sways. Mimic palpitations welling in the breast! for the most part, gaze is held downward lest she notice and query in jest.

Once, they almost spake, as rescue was rushed to, as possessions sought their freedom midst the throng of seekers. the moment, however, came to naught. a sudden stop brought them face to face. Nothing uttered. A sigh expelled air from the lungs. Watch as it seeks the sky. Pain was the reward as humanity rushed to their various and sundry engagements.
The body sets, and awaits, the final tick of the clock that the journey may begin again on the morrow and foster...admiration from afar.
