It only takes one little word
Of what we think or what we’ve heard
It only takes a small rebuff
For one to take off in a huff
The words and actions how we feel
All depend on what we perceive as real
A single kiss, a simple touch,
On their own don’t sound too much
But combined with deep emotion
Can bring about a strange commotion
Careful when you say the words
Listen, sure of what you heard
And even when you share that kiss
Or hold their hand don’t let them miss
The meaning of a simple friend
Or more, it will just depend
On all the signals that you send
Careful all the things you do
Don’t let someone misconstrue
Promise only what you can
And let them know and understand
Some may think of love or hate
When all you mean is simply wait
