Slip away

Have you ever had a friendship, have you ever been so in love,
It's like he's the only one on your mind, the one you can't stop thinking of.
The one you have to spend your day with, it's like you have to be together,
The one who's always been there to be your one best friend forever.

Has there ever been that one person, who seems like the best kind of guy,
And you could never just imagine ever having to say goodbye.
It’s like he’ll always be a best friend no matter what and you could never be pulled apart.
Because that person is so special to you, he’ll always have a place deep down in your heart.

Have you ever felt completely lost, and you just never knew what to do,
But at the end of the day it's like he’d always have a way of helping you through.
Maybe the way you'd see his name on caller ID when he's never talked to you in a while,
And how its times like those that just make your day, you just can't help but smile.

Have you ever had someone who'd listen to all your problems, no matter what you had to say,
Even if you were going through the worst thing in the world, he'd always be there to tell you its OK.
But even though it's not OK, it doesn't really matter because he'd always make things right,
And he'd always be right there by your side, even when you couldn't sleep at night.

Has there ever been that one person you could just hug forever, you'd never want to let him go,
Because he makes you feel so safe inside, a feeling to hard to explain, it's like no one could ever know.
It's like when you're together you feel so close to his heart, wishing that people understood,
Because you just fit perfectly in his arms, it's like you would stay up all night if you could.

Have you ever had this happen to you, but then have it all fall apart,
It's like everything had to change and every little thing broke your heart.
Did you ever feel so confused and so depressed all in the same day,
Because now everything's different and it's like everything you had is gone away.

It's like everything you'd do would make it even worse and you just couldn't understand why,
Then that one song would come on the radio and you'd try so hard not to cry.
Or have you ever felt so stressed out thinking that this might just be the end,
Because you didn't know what was going on, it's like you were losing your one and only best friend.

Have you ever felt so weak and so out of energy, it's like all you could do is sleep,
You'd sleep your life away just so you wouldn't cry, so you couldn't weep.
Telling yourself it would all heal with time, even if you were always wrong,
But you'd try so hard to move on with life, even if you weren't always strong.

Have you ever asked yourself a million questions without enough time the day,
Have you ever caught yourself thinking he'd disappear and that one day he might just slip away.
Even if he promised to never let you go, he'd always be by your side,
And even when he promised he'd always have a shoulder for when you cried.

Have you ever missed all those little things, you know all the little things he would do,
I mean the way he would always joke around, the way he'd always look at you.
Even the way you'd talk to him and how you'd always say I love you,
And the way he'd always say it back and that he'd always love you too.

Have you ever wanted him to know how you felt and never had the words for what you had to say,
You'd always come so close but then the words would just always seem to slip away.
It's like you'd spend the whole day thinking about it, your thoughts would never end,
Because all you'd want him to know was that even if things change, he'd always be your best friend.

Have you ever had a friendship with the best kind of guy, the one who'd always make your day,
A friend who'd always be there right by your side telling you that everything's going to be OK.
If you've had that friendship, you should hold onto it and live it up to every minute of every day,
Because even though things always change, you should never let the best friends in life slip away.
