The River

by Peter Williams   May 27, 2005

The calm river,
Flowing so free.
The birds chirp a happy song,
The breeze breathes a sigh of relief.
The sound of the water calms my spirit,
It calms my soul.
The fishes dance beneath its current.
The sun glistening from the surface of the water.
What is this river?
How was it formed?
Where does it lead to?
The river...
The mighty river.
The peaceful river.
The river,
Always flowing.
The river of time,
The river of life.
Time is like a river,
And history repeats....
But never stops flowing.
My life is that of the river fish,
I was constantly trying to fight my way upstream,
But now...
I let the river take me.
I go with the flow,
The flow of time,
The flow of life.
The calm river.
The mighty river.
The peaceful river.
The river of time,
The river of life.
The river,
Always flowing,
Flowing to the grand sea.
My life is a river,
It is always in motion,
It is always flowing.
I will not fight it anymore,
I will not swim upstream.
I will go with the flow,
In hopes that the river will lead me to something more grand.
The calm river.
The mighty river.
The peaceful river.
The river of time.
The river of life.
The river,
The river of my life.
