Our White Noise

by They Call Me Megan   May 28, 2005

The rumbles reverberate through every inch of this body
The flashes reflect into the royal oceans of these eyes
The steady patters follow in respectful streams to these ears
[2 am] this occurrence lingers on but with my certain attention
I can’t help but ask myself are you looking through these same mists?
Are you listening to these same throaty growls?
Are you seeing these same bursts of brilliant light?
[3 am] I’m out in this downpour, dancing free with mother Earth
I can’t help but ask myself are you out in the same splendor?
My feet assemble in mounting puddles only to rinse away my impurities
Rain is my white noise, drowning out every resonance, silence
The hush that is golden, the silence that leaves only you and I
Arms outstretched, grasp the surrounding air, capturing your aroma in my fist
Wander closer, you’re almost there
[4 am] hues of dusky orange tinge the rooftops
But this occurrence lingers on with my rapt attention
The trees reveal the way, confident in their black shapes
Our white noise leads, nudges, prods
You’re on my river, in my puddles, in each drop
Cascading over my body, enveloping me as one of your own
[5 am] we’ll share what we discover and enjoy the view
But can’t help but ask myself how can you ever love me as much as I love you?
