A letter for my Papa

by Lost but Smiling   May 30, 2005

Dear Papa,
this is for you.
This is a letter from your Princess.
God, it’s been so long since you called me that.
I miss it.
But now you won’t ever say that to me.
Because I have grown up,
I have got my own mind.
I know it does not agree with the rest of the family’s,
but even once don't you think you could say you were proud of me?
I know I’ve taken on the more literary route.
I know that I do not excel in sports
or in math or science,
but when I study for three hours and try my hardest,
it’s still not good enough for you.
I just wish that when I have a Horseback competition,
you would show…
I know you do not care, because it’s not what you like,
but every now and then I would like you to be there,
to see me place…
Last time, I took third…
but that means shit to you,
My collection of short stories got published in Standley’s Literary Journal,
You shrugged it off and said,
"That’s nice"
You look at the photos I take and say,
I suppose those turned out all right.
You look at my sketches and say
"That’s nice."
You are always telling me I’m an inconvenience
You are always telling me I’m not good enough.
You are always telling me that I need to work harder…
but Papa, there is a point,
when even Princess’ need a break.
