Cain

by Robert   May 30, 2005

I have walked on this land long ago,
when the Earth was young and I had an ego.
I was drove out of Eden because of a deadly sin,
taking a knife and killing my nearest kin.
Alone I was cast out to build a nation with my very hand,
driven out by God to an unknown land.
It was God that banished me to walk the world in a time without end,
stricken was I from family or any friend.
I managed to live by my wits end,
and then I found the devil awaiting me around the bend.
He gave me Lilith to wed and let our seed grow,
and from our love a nation did grow.
Nomads we all cam to be,
away from God’s eyes we set our passions free.
We came to do what we must to survive,
for there was no hope or faith to keep our children alive.
I was there to see Jesus die on the cross,
and I did to question the highest boss.
No answer did my ears did hear,
for I understood that was my fear.
Others have killed for lust or greed or some other thing,
but I am the only one to walk this land like a ring.
I have tried to die so many times just to end the pain,
but God gives me the will to see past the strain.
I wish to end my tortured life and finally be dead,
but I must survive for that is what God has said.
So if I must live I will make the faithful fall to their knees,
for I will become a religious disease.
I will whisper the lies that so many don’t wish to say,
and in the end they will be the Devil’s prey.
I will lurk in the darkness forbidden to die,
and by the moonlight I will make the children cry.
I will be the nightmare the horror that you so passionately dread,
all of this, people because I will not be dead.
In the end I am to only be stirred with on unkindly thrill,
can you believe it is to swallow blood after each kill.
