Childhood Memories

Dear childhood friend
It\'s me again
Writing to see how you are
Calling to implore
To which paths you\'ve explored
And if it\'s taken you very far

I miss those camping trips
Netting little sunshine fish
To make the garden grow
But the path you chose
Was different to my own
And I just wanted to let you know

That you really put life into perspective
When I was starting to become deceptive
And I wanted to thank you for helping me to learn
My emotions were jumbled
My world almost crumbled
But you were there unfalteringly helping me to discern

The right from the wrong
When we were both still so young
And now it's my chance to repay
Because now that we're older
The world's weights on our shoulders
Which has led much to our dismay

And I see you struggling to hang on
Day after day trying to stay strong
I just want to let you know that I'm here
And just as when we were younger
And were filled with so much wonder
I'll always lend a listening ear

So whichever path you decide to take
Remember that we were brought together by Faith
And promised to be B.F.F.E's
And through what ever losses and gains
And sunshine and rain
I'll always hold on to our childhood memories
