Large Enough

by samuel   Jun 1, 2005

My heart is large enough
To accommodate the world
Some wonder at it
Ensconced as they are in self love
The puzzle to them is a stud.

My heart is like the Niger
From its Futa Djalon heights
Crisscrossing the swamps
Embracing each and every watery beast
Each in its own niche
Preserved by benevolence
Discrimination to it is quite unknown.

My heart very like America
Takes in the widest kaleidoscope of humanity
Stows up in its recesses a plethora
Bows to the intricate art of creation
The maker for it is the ultimate sage.
