Black Roses

by AynJal   Jun 1, 2005

Black petals
Soft and evil
Lay themselves across my window sill
Dark roses
Smell of death
Plant themselves deep in the concrete floor
I pick one gently and the blood is drawn
from my fingertips
I bring it close, and kiss it lightly, licking my dry lips
Venom has bled unto my tongue
Sweet and mysterious, I hear it's seductive song
It echos through my mind and in it's vines, I am entwined
Covered in the dark green I look up to the sky
The moon over head looks down on me, asking, will you die?
My insides distort, the picture is frozen
Time has paused for only a moment
The venom is screaming through my veins, raging all over my body
I hear the song, still playing in my brain, I cry out, will you help me?
A howl is heard, beyond the hills, pushing aginst the stars
I look to see, an image of me, reflecting off a water mirror
My face is white, and covered in fur, a muzzle's tongue licks dark lips
Eyes of sheer ice, is this the night that I'll begin to live?
Vines that held me, are no longer there, I am standing here alone
Four long legs of grey and white, keep me feeling strong
I lift my head, to look above and sing a mournful song
It reflects off the moon, and to each star, across the velvet sky
I lower my head and lay down, and here is where I'll die

you had me at every word then you just cut everything off. Why it was going so good I think if you had managed to convey the message you had in your heart for this poem It would be so much stronger piece of work. It was just a thought. If you get time take a look at my featured poems. Thanx...
