Proud to be your son

by NICKOLAS ELGERT   Jun 2, 2005

Life goes fast
Which make me think of the past
Mom all the times that I would clown
About you coming from a small town
I want to say thank you
I am glad you taught me your ways
As I look back at these days

Some days I needed that backhand
At the time though I was mad
But now I understand
You were doing this for my own good
But it wasn't all discipline
You were also fair
I think we made a wonderful pair
You know mother and son
But you weren't always a mother
You were also a friend

When I was little I was a nuisance
I look back and thats what is see
But you were always there for me
Through my many heartbreaks
And through all of my mistakes

You were a mom, an enemy,
You were a friend, and a buddy,
You were a cook, and a nurse
A taxicab, and a teacher
All those things wrapped up as one
But mom I am proud to be your son
