Angel in disguise

Behind her eyes is something which only I can see
She saves all of her secrets, and shares them all with me
Although her words hold deception, mainly they are true
Maybe only I see the real her, and she’s only fake for you

There’s something in her voice, that tell me she is cheerless
But that face that she wears daily shows her as fearless
Some people think she is acting, a show put on for fun
But I know her heart aches and she wishes she could run

There is more to her that meets the eye, it’s hidden within
A broken heart, torn and ripped, like blades through her skin
It’s like a red hot burning torture that never leaves her alone
Like an evil little demon that gnaws deep through her bones

Deep inside she is weeping and I want to set her free
I want to loosen the chains around her like she has for me
I do not care for your opinion as is shadowed in blame
You said that she has changed me, I know I stayed the same

She has told me of the times when life had been too tough
I want to be with her every day, but even that is not enough
Inspired me through hard times, I know she’s had them too
That even when she is smiling her heart is still cold blue

Wish I had the words to say just how I think she feels
I know if she had her way they would never be revealed
She doesn’t mean them to be obvious, every cut and hack
Just a mark made in anger, she wished she could take back

I try to make her happy, I know she tries her best to smile
But it’s wrong for her to waste her whole life living in denial
I sense the sadness in her touch, the are still tears in her eyes
And even if no one else knows it, she is my angel in disguise
