Life Through A Different Lens

Coming into a world of ups and downs
People laugh as you give a frown
So innocent this life is that we see
Not imagining what it may come to be

As growth take its spurt
You learn life is full of joy and hurt
Making friends as you go
One day you will meet your foe

As you become older
You learn that life gets colder
All the friends that were made
Have now started to fade

You may now feel secure with what you have gained
But life now feels so contained
But still you persist to achieve
Never learning how to grieve

But that lesson will come
You will find out happiness can be undone
The people that cried when you were found
You learn to cry for them when they are underground

You have learned so much in your life
And how people can stab you with the coldest knife
Everything you knew seems to be gone
You never realised life had become so long

You see your children repeat the same course
But never let them see your remorse
But as they leave you
You realise the happiness you had was never true

Life feels so cold deep down inside
This feeling you cant hide
You have achieved everything with love
Its time your children cried for you as you return home up above
