A Fake Smile

As I cleaned out my room one day, I found a picture of a friend who now lives far away.

Her hair was brown but she died it gold, “ Sunshine Gold” as we were told.

The picture was perfect, her posture was great, yet I knew her smile was fake.

You could see it in her eyes, the sadness of her present and past, the sadness she tried so hard to mask.

We were in the same class and we grew close that year, so my hope for her soon turned to fear.

She called me one day, and through her sobs I learned about all her lost love.

Her parents were divorced, she had no real friends, and right then she had a knife in her hand.

She explained that she cut her wrists and I heard her sod as she her blood ran down her fists.

I talked for hours telling her to stop, trying to convince her the knife she should drop.

I heard a clatter of something on the ground and I rushed over and this is what I found.

She lay on the floor, crying in pain, yelling out name after name.

When she stopped yelling she started to curse, “ I hate you all and I hate you the most!”

I stood there in shock, surprised and hurt, but as I looked at her I saw the blood on her shirt.

She died at 14 because of a knife, a f**ken knife that took her poor life.

“Why did she hate me, why did she die?”

These questions I have, their answers are lost, the only one that can answer them wont be forgot.

There was a funeral, but the sun still shone and so my slowly went on.

I am now old and I understand the truth, she hated me for being happy and for having a better life then she ever could.

My friend now lives far away, in a place called heaven I hope she’s ok.

So if your sad don’t smile, cry, cuz the friend that can see the truth will be hurt most if you die.

I made this poem because one of my "patents" cuts.

If you are reading this remember I'll alwaysthere for you!!
