Here We Struggle

by samuel   Jun 3, 2005

When I came newly to Africa
I met a young man
And asked him my way about
The only thing he told me was
We struggle here
I did not take him seriously until days later
When in my usual evening stroll
I was robbed of all my money
I fumed with disgust
But the policeman who ought to
Share my irritation simply
Reiterated what that lad had said
Here we struggle
He put the here before the struggle
I took it as emphasis
