A friend gives you your wings
Allowing you to fly up high
One who always picks you up
When you feel the need to cry
She is one who comforts you
When the world turns its back
A friend is one who comes in
When all you can see is black

A friend is one who loves you
Sticks with you through it all
Always there to help you out
Or to catch you when you fall
She is the one you can lean on
When you’re living on the edge
A friend is one is always there
From the beginning to the end

A friend is one who understands
And always listens while we talk
One who won’t condemn or judge
But encourages us while we walk
She is the one who you can run to
When you are feeling all alone
A friend is one who welcomes you
In her heart is your next home

A friend begins lighting your way
When your world is cold and dark
Who ignores the sounds of others
And tells you listen to your heart
She is the one who helps you out
Guiding you to that shining star
A friend is one who understands
Living emotionally where you are

A friend is one who would realize
When something is going wrong
Sticking with you through it all
Until you feel that you are strong
She is the one who made a vow
To be by your side all of the time
A friend is there twenty-four hours
Not only a second or part time

A friend is like your pot of gold
One to treasure for all the years
A person who would care for you
A special friend to wipe your tears
A friend is someone who loves you
Bringing smiles when you feel sad
I never had a real friend in my life
I guess for me that’s just too bad
