For my best friend

by amra   Jun 5, 2005

She has a grin on her face
A knife in her back
Picture of happiness in her head
And a misled reality

Broken heart
Shattered dreams
Destroyed home
And one tough teenage girl

With a bit lip
A pretend smile
Eyes concentrating on her shoes
She is up to confront the world

One, two, three steps
And she is tripped
Slowly she falls
About to hit the ground

A hand reaches out
Too far for her to grab
And down it all goes

Another crack
More lost hope
A tear reminding her it all was real
Another day she will not forget

The morning is here
And our solider is suiting up
Has her defense on high
Although her optimism is low

No one can fight a war alone
In need for an army to help her
Left there unaided
She should not be forgotten

Help is on the way
Not one to give up
Each battle leaves her wounded
Every desire keeps her hanging on

The girl is left empty
Hollow inside
Needs to be filled
With caring hearts

Do not cut the rope just yet
For we are sending our best fighter
The antidote for the venom in you

For love is finding its way to her
With belief it will reach the girl
Before this turns into another
“Missing soul case”
