Futile Adoration(free verse)

by Heather M Craig   Jun 5, 2005

Claims of tangible love
connecting two forlorn spirits
ungraspable to the eyes of observers.
Sometimes
my mind drifts into the vast seas of doubt
would you still hold me,
touch me, kiss me, hold the previous title of adoration
if i exposed the true colors
rather than paint myself up
with my mystical brush.
wondering would you still want me,
need me,
crave me, trust your life in my hands
if i revealed what lies behind me,
all the things i've done wrong,
and the latter days of naivety.
wondering
would i still be beautiful
in your flawless eyes
if you saw me without control
in my full flesh of freedom?
wondering
if one must conceal
the justice underneath the paint
with soft fabrication
wouldn't their love be
futile existence......
