Lucky to be alive

by katie!   Jun 6, 2005

He sat there, just having a quiet drink with a friend
How could he have forseen what was about to happen to him
The lights dimmed as evening fell around the city
If onlys, flood my head, if only he had stayed in

They walked up to him, menacing, he knew there would be trouble
His friend looked at him as they scanned for ways of escape
Praying for someone to come to their aid, outnumbered
No way out from this awful fight could they take

First punch landed, smashing him to the floor
All of this for the simple reason that he was a policeman
Out there saving and helping people every day
Giving up so much, getting insulted by everyone

Kicked over and over again, six against one
Tried to kept up, but the flurry of blows was to bad
Smashed his teeth out, blood flowed freely from his head
Tears and screams from his friend, driven mad

Kicked and kicked, until he could barely see
All because he helped people, saved many lives
Lying there, defeated, lost all his new promotions
Tears of sorrow, he was lucky to be alive

*this is about my uncle who was very badly beaten up and is still in hospital because of it*
