Trials of a Broken Heart

The world feels completely worthless,
You can’t help looking down at your own two feet,
The sun is shining but you see no light,
The air is warm but you feel no heat,

Existence cares little for you,
Reasons to live you have to find,
Searching frantically, anything will do,
Alas, you will soon go out of your mind.

You look to the sky for some sign of hope,
For something to save you from this,
Nothing comes, the sky stays clear,
Most of this world you find hard to miss.

To escape from this miserable existence,
Death seams like the only way out,
The troubles of the world scream at you,
“I don’t care anymore!” you want to shout.

You only need to hold on,
To survive this horrific time,
For once you make it through this desolate place,
You will once again hear happiness’s chime.

All covered in blankets,
Who can’t seem to warm inside,
As you settle down and drift to sleep,
Your lonely dreams sweep you away like the tide,

As you wake from your fitful sleep,
The light of the world slowly seeps through,
Easing slightly the pain from memory,
Your life and your pride slowly come back to you.
