Sheet of Dreams

by Jacklyn   Jun 8, 2005

They pulled back the sheets,
As I looked upon your face,
So still and pale,
Lifeless with bloodstains,

Senior Prom dance,
You were so excited and thrilled,
But now you will not move,
Now you lay with God,

The hair and the shoes,
How you planned everything through,
But not everything went smooth,
Now there is nothing I can do.

The cuts upon your face,
Thinking of your pain,
How this is so unfair,
Your dreams shattered, just disappeared.

A child so full of love,
Full of innocence and faith,
Ripped away of air,
Withering from the world,

Fooled by his looks,
Trust he stole from both of us,
Forcing you to give him love,
Refusing to give him sex,

He abused you until he won,
Once he reached his goal,
No longer needing you anymore,
He left you to die alone.

Your friends say you never reached the prom,
Never set foot through those doors,
Instead you were being killed,
As your dreams just disappeared.

As I was called late at night,
Rushing to the hospital to see if you were all right,
As I stare upon your body,
No longer functioning,

Identifying you were mine,
My only child, my only light,
The white sheet placed again,
Your sheet of dreams disincarnate.
Just like your bright fate.
