The War

by ~*Lizette*~   Jun 9, 2005

Creeping through the woods trying to be soundless
All the bodies laying around seem to be countless
Looking around trying to watch our back
And never knowing when we'll be under attack
Weapons fired and bombs bursting so near
Sweat drips down revealing our fear
Grass and dirt stain our clothes and face
With each step our pounding hearts start to race
Traps and land mines scattered throughout
Which path to take, we're always in doubt
Ducking and dodging and diving to the floor
All to survive yet our bodies remain sore
Worn out and tired with hardly any time to sleep
Standing in swamps that are knee deep
Our mission is over, we try to put it all aside
But the pain lingers on as we remember those that died.
